The people on the mountain call them TV's for turkey vulture.
Look at that hook, and that neck.

I'm pretty excited about these pictures.

Copyright

I suppose I should say for the record, that in all the photographs, taken by me, and published here, I reserve all copyright. So I am now saying. All photographs taken by me and published here are copyrighted. Copying for non commercial use is allowed, but I reserve all reprint and commercial rights.

Dancers

I don't know dance. These pictures are of my friends daughter's dance recital. I made over 250 photographs that night. Many many of them are blurry. I always have trouble with low light. Producers seem to always place people on stage ... IN HATS! I fought the camera constantly. Technically, even with my forgiving new Digital Rebel XT, I seem to have trouble.

As for the dance. I see energy, beauty, hard work and joy. I don't know if the dancing is good. Mostly I think I see one good dancer. You may be able to pick her out. I think she's better than the rest.

She's not in the photo with the follow spot. That's the boss and her protege'. I hate these shows, and yet, I wish there were more of them. A season. Like little league. Its seems to me a shame to put all that work, a year's preparation, and in a short night (alright its a long night) POOF! Its over.

We need more opportunity for dance!

I'll add more. There's another dancer I admire in this show.

What's going on here? I think its an eagle being harrassed by a crow

The pictures in the next three posts were all taken on the same day. Each set seemed to be a separate event. There are many more of the ones from this particular event but I got frustrated fighting the web page creator. Mostly it works great, but it doesn't make editing changes well.

If anyone can verify that this is a bald eagle I would appreciate it. I think its a young bird maybe one or two years old. It was circling and I kept driving till I found it in the section of the refuge across the road at the end of the first section. (I forget the names of the sections of Montezuma.) Anyway it was across Rt 89.

Interestingly I shot a million pictures of these eagles. I kept keeping shooting till I got a 'battery' signal from my new digital camera. As I turned back to the car, I saw the nesting Osprey. Imagine my disapointment. My camera finally wouldn't run out of film, and it ran out of battery. (I had charged it just before leaving.)

I wanted to put these in order, but its almost impossible to move pictures around in this editor. Still these picutres are ALMOST all in order.

Small birds

From the small swift swallows to the large eagles, osprey and (I think) a Sandill crane, all from the same day and all from the to the Montezuma Wildlife Refuge. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite places. All the pictures will enlarge if you click on them.

Same trip - The Big Birds

Now I have been trying to get a picture, a close picture of an osprey for about 4 years. So I took the rechargeable battery out of my camera and I shook it. It lasted the rest of the day with no problem and I was able to take a bunch of pictures of my opsrey. Too bad I looked away as the one bird returned to the nest. Good shot of the wing though!

I was gonna show a few less pictures. Ooops! Does anybody hate the pictures?
