Flood!!! The town view

Strangely, my Dad was affected a little by the flood. They turned off electric to areas that were flooded. I had to ask Linda to go look by his house because I hadn't been able to get him all day. Later his phone went right to voicemail, so no phone no light. A lot of lower Johnson City was flooded on the North side. It rained so much, the water that ran off the hillside just pooled! It litterally flooded in the middle of JC.
Here in Sidney, fully half the town was underwater. We have two major industries here. MeadWestvaco was closed for three days. I'm on call! But the water only flooded our road, not our building. My friend Bob over at Amphenol said that their datacenter was totally destroyed. Their plant, which is right in the middle of town, maybe a half mile from the riverbank, was completely engulfed.
There was a house in Conklin that floated down the Susquehanna. It was on National news. All the politicians were here of course. Pataki had to leave the South Washinton St bridge area in a hurry, because the water was overflowing it. I heard, but did not see, that the 25' flood wall at Court and Tompkins was overrun with water. They evaquated downtown and Lourdes. Linda has had to work doubley hard and at different hospitals. I've never seen them clear Lourdes, but it turned out to be a good idea.
The road to Albany litterally washed away at Unadilla. 2 Truck drivers died. Both directions lanes were cut by a 20' gap of a stream that was unnoticeable last week. The alternate route (Rt 7) was flooded. People got off the exit and slept in the McDonalds parking lot.
We paid our hourly employees today, in the McDonalds parking lot.
There's still a curfew from 6 pm to 6 am tonight.

Life

And now for a story. Long ago, in a land very near here, a young man walked alone in the middle of a street, in shadows thrown past a circle of electric lighting. In that place at that time, he saw into the future.

It was wide open, dark, but clear and it shocked him. He had a realization then, or maybe it was time travel. Define it as you will he could see into the future. At once existing and fleeting. There was a direct line between the man from a long time ago, and the man in the future. The days were mostly the same. Only the details differed. Day. Night. Day. Till there he was. The same man. On a different street or maybe the same, but straight from the past. He knew he got to the future.

At both ends he knew...

He was alone.

Politics IV or (I'm really not kidding)

Ok. I don't care. But conservative voters seem to. The idea that they are 'defending marriage' means something to them. So they go vote. While they're there they vote for Republicans.

Still most of them don't think there should be different rights for gays. Not less rights for gays. THIS IS REALLY ABOUT A DEFINITION.

What if it just meant the same thing, but we called it a different name?

Gay Marriage. Garriage? Same rights. Same tax penalty. Same visitation in the hospital?

Marriage is for straights. Garriage is for gays!

I'm not kidding. Would that make everyone happy? Everyone except the Republican politicians that are using Gay Marriage to scare the traditional?

Not my first eagle

But the best shots I've gotten so far.
